Hosting
Before we can create a server, we have to host it somewhere. There are many websites allowing you to host your server, whether free or paid. These solutions have their own advantages and disadvantages, such as lag and networking issues.
Some popular services for hosting Minecraft servers are: (not affiliated)
- Aternos (Free)
- Bisect Hosting (Paid)
- Apex Hosting (Paid)
Alternatively, you could host it on your own computer for free. This requires you to change the configuration on your internet router to allow other players to connect to your server, known as port forwarding. How you do it varies from router to router, but essentially you go to your router settings (you may be able to find this at 192.168.1.1) and allow traffic from port 25565. You may be able to find how to port forward on your provider's website. You may also use a service known as playit.gg to host your server on your computer without port forwarding.
Ultimately, it's personal preference on how you would like to host your server. Some may be easier to set up than others though.
